I Went to Washington D.C.!
Hey there! So as some of you may know I am a huge Art History fan and absolutely, positively LOVE going to art museums, so naturally when my Art History professor offered to take a handful of students to D.C. for our Fall Break, I jumped on the opportunity like white on rice. I had such a great time and experience. It definitely was eye opening in many ways, and I saw things I never ever thought imaginable. I shot over a thousand images, but I just wanted to share a few of my finds from my three day trip. I might add a few more from the weekend later. Enjoy! Leah
perfection.
i’ve forgotten what it’s all about. why do i have to make everything so darn technical and perfect?
I wish i could get out of that state of mind, and just do what i love to do, without worrying about whether or not it’s perfect. i’m not sure if this technical side came out of my education and always striving to be perfect, but look at all the great artists and photographers of our time. i mean really look. their pieces are by no means “perfect”. so why do i try so damn hard to be “perfect”. if you haven’t figured it out yet, I am talking about my photography.
I’ve come to realize that I miss out on so many photographic opportunities because i am too worried about the shot being technically “perfect”. I was looking through pieces done by Annie Leibovitz, and came across a photographer by the name of Diane Arbus. Her work is beautiful, it’s of common, unique folk. Her images are absolutely amazing, but they are by no means perfect. Yet she was able to capture the individuals in a way that I wish i was able to do. I am really going to try and just photograph life. I want realness in my portraits, not something that I have been conformed to thinking is right.
